We are really excited to be approaching this year’s Young Carers Action Day (YCAD). It takes place next week on Wednesday March 13 under the theme of Fair Futures for Young Carers.

The Young Carers Covenant

To mark this year’s Young Carers Action Day we are launching the Young Carers Covenant. The Covenant is a landmark UK-wide commitment that governments, businesses, councils and many other bodies sign up to pledging to take action to support young carers.

on March 13 to find out more about the kind of actions you can take to support young carers, and to sign up.

Carers Trust videos to promote support for fair futures for young carers and young adult carers

We’ve made five videos showing the importance of young carers getting the right support at the right time. Our videos all address the need for far greater support for young carers and young adult carers. Some videos feature young carers talking about their experiences; others feature employers and educational professionals urging their peers to provide more support in schools, colleges and the workplace.

We will share one of these videos on our social media channels in early next week. The others will be shared across our channels from March 13 onwards.

You can also find and watch all the videos on…

from March 13.

What’s happening across the UK on Young Carers Action Day?

In Scotland, young carers will have the opportunity to have their voices heard by politicians and decision makers during a Young Carers Action Day Question Time panel event in Perth. On 14 March, more than 50 young carers will tell the Scottish Parliament why the Covenant should be supported.

The Young Carers Covenant will be launched in Westminster. A group of young carers will meet with MPs, Peers and the Minister for Children, Families and Wellbeing, David Johnston MP, to seek support for the Covenant.

Young carers from across Wales will meet the Welsh Government’s Deputy Minister for Social Services, Julie Morgan, to discuss issues that matter to them.

In Northern Ireland, young carers and young adult carers who have been working with Carers Trust on the Covenant have presented the Covenant to Members of the Legislative Assembly through the All Party Group on Carers.
